Life in The City

Alain Bédard is a Quebec painter fascinated by the art of drawing and illustration.  He has studied under Antoine Dumas and Claude A. Simard and obtained his Bachelor of Graphics in 1984.  During the last few years Alain has continued his creative approach by painting over 70 works a year.  He is inspired by his frequent travels, the architecture and the energy of the people he encounters.  Alain captures the beauty of these urban landscapes on canvasses that come alive with bright colour and simple shapes. The Wise and The Knowing

Bernadette McCormack became fascinated with painting wildlife early in 2012. The subject matter of Canadian Wildlife opened a door for Bernadette in exploring the world of animals. She has been enjoying the challenge of rendering wildlife in her distinct style, honoring the creatures that walk our earth with their unique wisdom and ever-lasting strength.

If you missed the show, many of Bernadette's pieces are still at the Gallery.

Real and Imagined

Gallery Co-Owner, Karen Bishop, presented her collection of watercolour paintings on wood panels for her first solo show at the Daffodil.  This exciting way of working with watercolours really suited Karem's loose and relaxed style of painting with many pieces finding new homes.  Several paintings are still available however and Karen is working on more panels as we speak!

Tom Wilson:  A Cast of Thousands

Picture
Juno-award winning artist and Folk Fest favourite Tom Wilson joined for four days this February.  His canvasses depicting large faces set against crescent moons and deep blue night skies were a great hit and everyone enjoyed the mini concert he treated us to at his opening.

Although his paintings have all left the building we do have an order book  available, so pick your favourite songs and we'll be happy to pass on your request to Tom

Twelve Days of Christmas

We wanted to make your Christmas shopping just a little less stressful and invited our artists to join us throughout December.  Our resident piano busker, Evan the Hat, also dropped in every day to play some seasonal tunes. Christmas treats were on hand and we gave away two very special gift baskets full of goodies from our talented artists.

As well we invited people to bring in donations for Hope Mission. Just before Christmas I delivered three big bags of warm clothing and $117.

We had a great time at the Gallery before Christmas and hope we put a smile on many peoples faces while they were shopping, giving and receiving.  Thanks to everyone who came out and a special thanks to everyone who also donated to the Mission.

Blooming

In August of 2011 our Gallery was turned into a beautiful garden featuring the work of many of our regular Gallery artists.  At our Garden Party opening on August 13th we moved the piano outside and enjoyed Pimms, cucumber sandwiches, a fashion show and live painting demonstrations by Karen Bishop, Catherine Marchand and Heidi Smith.  Karen's painting (see below) raised $350 for the Lois Hole Foundation and many of the pieces we displayed are still available.  Please contact us for more information.
