Love and Other Myths February 7th to 25th, 2012
Joe Reimer and Oksana Zhelisko
Oksana Zhelisko and Joe Reimer are both figurative artists who excel at painting the female form.
Oksana's oil paintings are highly decorative and the collection she will be displaying at this exhibit depict her interpretations of Goddesses. Oksana begins by painting or staining her canvasses so that the inner beauty and charm of the woman can be revealed as she paints. This allows her to paint women that are neither crisp nor blank, but coloured and tinged; each being an image or an iconoclast that is warm, or perhaps cold, but always strong, alluring, full of mystique, and of course, true inner beauty.
Joe paints with thick and flowing acrylic. His work has an energy and loose style that is inspired by his faith. His highly textured and emotional paintings of women represent the beauty and majesty of the universe as well as the complexity and wonder of the unknown.
Together Joe and Oksana have a bold style that speaks to the passion they have for their art and the beauty of women. It seems appropriate to exhibit their work of beautiful women over Valentine's Day and we hope you'll be able to join us.
Love and Other Myths runs February 7th to 25th with an opening on Thursday February 9th from 5 to 8pm and the artists in attendance Saturday Feb 11th from 2 to 4pm.
